Ok, well I haven’t really made it a habit of updating this thing regularly yet. A single post per month is better than nothing I suppose, but it is still laughable at best. I need to give it a little bit more of my attention seems how I am actually paying for it and all, haha.
What’s new? Well, I have been attempting to be more active on Destructoid.com which has quickly become my favorite gaming community website. It used to be 1up.com, but I really lost interest once it turned into a trendy popularity contest and they started bombarding me with advertising before I could even visit the homepage. There is another site like that if I remember correctly, oh yeah … it’s called MySpace. Fortunately I try to keep somewhat of a low profile on there, although it doesn’t prevent the spam-bots from finding me apparently.
I am currently in the process of trying to prepare for the fall gaming season. I am actually looking forward to quite a few games that are coming out soon: BioShock, Two Worlds, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3, Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon, Halo 3, Mass Effect, and Assassin’s Creed that I can think of off the top of my head right now. I’m sorry if I left out anything awesome that I should have mentioned, but rest assured that there are a bunch of others that I plan on purchasing for every system by the end of the year.
As if that wasn’t enough, I am also making plans to hit up a few more conventions by the end of the year hopefully. If all goes well, I will be attending E for All in Los Angeles as well as the Video Games Live concert (which seems somewhat similar to Play! A Video Game Symphony.) that is going to be held there. I am also considering Yaoi-Con in San Francisco, but I am not 100% on that yet. I haven’t decided on any other conventions yet, but since those don’t take place until the end of October I still have plenty of time to plan. Hopefully I will get the chance to work on a costume, preferably something that will protect me from rape at Yaoi-con.
So, until next time kids… don’t smoke crack.

Well, the E3 has finally arrived. Although it is a completley different format from the previous years, it already appears to be working out marvelously. All of the major gaming sites and blogs seem to be frantically updating everyone with the flood of amazing news from the first day. I am seriously considering a change of focus right about now. I honestly think that I need to start looking into a career in video game journalism. It won’t just give me the ability to earn a living, it will give me so much more. I will have the ability to live and breath what I truly love ever single day. Not only that, but it will also give me the opportunity to travel all over while meeting all kinds of awesome new people who all share the same interests. I need to take a journalism class next semester and see how I like it!
Anyway, that is enough of that - Here are a few major things from today:
Gears of War for PC announced. (with the possiblity of added 360 content in the fall.)
Resident Evil 5 will be coming to the 360!
Blue Dragon Demo released on the Live Marketplace.
New 360 Elite w/Halo Theme announced.
and …
The rest of the news from the Microsoft Conference, courtesy of 1UP.
There was of course more, but this definitely was some of the most exciting stuff.

It has been an interesting month. I finally started going back to school, trying to get the cobwebs out. I finally have an idea what I should be doing if I want an actual degree as opposed to just an education. Apparently UC Santa Cruz offers a Computer Game Design degree, but I still need to check into UC LA. I remember seeing that EA would be sponsoring a game design related program at some of the SoCal universities. Even if I don’t end up transferring anywhere, I still have a better idea what to work towards in terms of educational goals.
In other news, Bethseda released their first teaser for the upcoming Fallout 3. It would probably be an understatement to say that I nearly died from the sheer beauty of it all. It got me tossing around some ideas of resurrecting Acheronia in the Fallout universe which it was born from using (hopefully) the toolkit that usually accompanies Bethseda’s RPGs.
I have also tarted tossing around some ideas for developing an Xbox Live Arcade game using the XNA toolkit, which could potentially be very fun or very painful. I talked to a guy the other day who is actually creating a game design class at one of the local high schools, it might even be beneficial to get involved in something like that if I can.

Ah, it feels nice to just relax and wind down from Fanime. I can honestly say that it was the best con ever, I had so much more fun this year than the previous two. If that wasn’t enough, I got the chance to see Play! which was probably one of the most epic things I have ever witnessed. I saw some familiar faces from my last two visits which is always cool, but it looks like the main difference this year was that I left having made new friends that I will absolutely have to keep in touch with. It is even more awesome considering I know very few people that I would actually hang out with who are hardcore into video games and anime, especially around here. Now I have an entire year to prep for another Fanime that will hopefully be even more awesome than this past one. I miss it already! I am going to have to look into other conventions and gatherings to go to so that I can fill the time between now and next May with pure awesome. Now, to catch up on some much needed sleep!

Nothing new to report, unfortunately. Started working on some ideas for opening up a small video game store / LAN cafe with a co-worker. It seems like a good idea in theory, at least we would be able to use our knowledge of what not to do when running a game store from our experience working at EB Games. Haha. I am far from a savvy business man, but if we could come up with a solid business model and combine it with our current ideas, I think we could potentially have an amazingly successful venture on our hands! I guess we shall see.

The Library has been updated. Forums and categories have been implemented as well as groups and permissions. One step closer to getting to work on something at least.

Trying to come up with some ideas for a new game. Unfortunately I have been losing interest in Acheronia, especially since RegisterFly stealing the domain was pretty discouraging. I either need to pick it up again and start almost completely from scratch or come up with something else. I have a few ideas floating around in my head, but so far there is nothing that really stands out to me as being exciting or unique. I still want to create a BB-MMORPG, I’m just not sure what exactly it is going to be yet. Hopefully I can somehow convince Brian to program for me as soon as I get some solid design work fleshed out. I need to get to work soon!
